  About us

Kate Hattersley Opticians is a family run independent opticians which prides itself on offering high levels of friendly customer service, value for money and honest advice. The practice used to be known as Lloyd Averns and Turner and was established in Earlsdon, Coventry in the 1930s. Mr Turner took the practice over from E Lloyd Averns in the 1950s.
The practice was fully refurbished in August 2004 and the name changed to Kate Hattersley Opticians.
It still retains all the sight test records from Mr Turner.

The Team
Kate Hattersley BSc (Hons) MCOptom is a qualified Optometrist (Ophthalmic Optician) who took over the practice from Mr Turner who retired in June 2004. Prior to running the practice, Kate has worked at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital, St James’s Hospital in Leeds and taught at both Bradford University and Aston University. Kate conducts full eye examinations. She also fits contact lenses and does all the after care appointments which are vital to ensure the eyes remain healthy while wearing lenses.

Spectacle frames, lenses, sunglasses and contact lenses are available to suit all budgets. New and existing patients are always welcome at the practice and Kate hopes you will allow her dedicated team to look after all your optical needs.

Samantha Lynch FBDO is the Dispensing Optician. Her role is to select suitable frames for the patient (meaning the frame fits and suits the patient in colour, shape/style, budget and is appropriate for the patient’s prescription); provide impartial advice on the most appropriate lenses for the prescription, budget and individual needs of the patient; advice on the need for any coatings on the lenses; adjusting the frame on collection to ensure it is comfortable to wear; advice on how the lenses work and how they should be used e.g. varifocals and bifocals, and repairs to spectacles. We are happy to source a frame if you have a particular design/colour in mind.
Sally Hull BSc (Hons) MCOptom is an Optometrist and works at the practice one day a week and has been part of the team for six years. Judith Finch BSc (Hons) MCOptom also works regularly at the practice in addition to her role at Warwick Hospital.
Norma Jameson and Susan Andreou are in Reception and will answer any queries regarding the services we offer, or tailor an appointment time to suit you.
